Chapter 18
Rae
Rae snapped open his eyes. Everything was blurry. He blinked several times until his vision focused.
Where am I?
When his vision cleared Rae noticed that he was no longer in his apartment. Rae sat up from his position on the ground and glanced around to get an understanding of his surroundings. He deduced that he was in a bookstore. As he got up from the floor, he noticed a familiar figure. The figure in question wore over-the-ear headphones, a black hoodie, and faded black skinny jeans.
Wait a minute.
Rae sprinted toward the individual. When he stretched out his hand to grab the hand of the figure and force it to face him; the individual pivoted and came face to face with Rae. A cold shiver ran down Rae’s spine as the realization hit him. The figure…was him.
What’s going on?
Rae’s doppelganger fazed through him and continued looking at books. Rae stared at his hands, shaken.
Okay. So, I’m still a ghost. Then what the hell is going on? Why are there two of me?
Rae spun on his heel and followed his doppelganger. Off in the distance, he saw the sign “Panda’s Book Nook”. Rae’s eyes widened.
This seems familiar.
Rae was stopped abruptly by his clone. His clone peered around a bookshelf toward the café area. In the seat closest to them sat a girl with lavender hair twisted up into double-bun ponytails. What Rae could see from where he stood, she wore a black and pink corset dress with black platform boots. From the corner of his eye, Rae saw his twin’s physical reaction to the girl.
Wait…I…I remember this!
Rae turned his attention back to the girl.
Lilah.
Lilah’s face was blocked by a decent-sized book. Rae’s twin fidgeted before he walked up to the railing that separated the café from the rest of the bookstore.
“Is that book any good?” the Rae twin asked.
Lilah peaked from behind the book she was reading and ogled Rae. Finally, she responded. “It’s okay.”
“What’s it about?”
“Honestly?”
The doppelganger nodded.
“I wasn’t really reading it. It was just a prop in hoping to get your attention,” Lilah disclosed.
“Oh really?” Rae teased as he cocked his head to the side. At the same time, he half hid his arousal from public view. “Why is that?”
Ghost Rae rolled his eyes as he watched the memory play out in front of him.
Lilah didn’t say anything but nudged her breasts into Rae’s field of vision. Her hardened nipples peeked through the fabric of her dress.
“Wanna get out of here?” Rae asked.
Ghost Rae groaned at his past self’s behavior. Lilah grabbed Rae’s hand and they hurried out of the bookstore.
